Watch: A Hawaiian Ocean Event with a Difference - Bluesmiths Paddle Imua (Maliko - Maui)

Every year 200+ paddlers and sailors race the ten miles along Maui’s North Shore as part of the Bluesmiths Paddle Imua Benefit Race.

The course is the legendary Maliko Downwind Run; A bucket-list paddle for ocean athletes. Typically, Maui’s reliable side-shore trade winds create incredible wind swell, resulting in epic glide conditions for paddlers racing to the Hawaiian Canoe Club in Kahului Harbor.

In 2016 it rained, blew on shore and there was onshore swell, making it a really tough paddle, even for ocean professionals, yet the turnout was phenomenal.

Why? Apart from the love of the ocean, all proceeds from the race go to Camp Imua, a week long camp run for the the benefit of children with special needs.

Mahalo to the Maui ocean community for always making this event phenomenal. Mahalo to Giora Koren, Nick Bicanic, Matty Schweizer, Franck Berthuot & John Smalley for the film/edit.

See you all on Saturday May 6th, 2017 as we line up for another 10 mile benefit paddle!
