What's the difference between most water shirts and the Bluesmiths shirts?
Most surf shirts absorb water. The Lane and Kanaha repel water and, when they do wet out, they dry incredibly fast.
What is the most common feedback from riders?
Many riders tell us that they're impressed with how the shirts keep them warm when they need to (wind chill is reduced), yet they breathe incredibly well, making them more comfortable when they're working hard - on or off the water.
Do they work for other sports and activities?
Absolutely. They're great for any activity with changeable conditions such as sailing, hydrofoiling, windsurfing, kite-surfing, cycling, boating or working out to name a few.
What's NanoSphere?
This Schoeller® fabric technology is incredible. It’s the best performing, most durable water repellent treatment we could find. And we tried a lot
NanoSphere uses nanotechnology to allow the fabric to repel water. When the fabric does finally wet out, it dries extremely fast. We think it’s revolutionary in application for sports where we face alternating wet-and-dry conditions.
NanoSphere is naturally self-cleaning, even repelling wine and oil, plus it increases fabric durability.
For Bluesmiths, this all means better on-water performance, increased versatility and longer lasting clothing. Further, you can wash at lower temperatures, making it more environmentally friendly.
Bluesmiths is the first and only brand to apply NanoSphere® to an ocean shirt, so we’re pretty excited. It’s also included on our Spartan shorts.
"Ideal for when you’re both in and out of the water—whether you’re surfing and cycling, say, or taking a dip and reading on the beach.
The Kanaha shirt is the most durable we’ve found over five years of testing for our article on the best beach gear"
The Bluesmiths Difference
Performance
Bluesmiths Hydrophobic Shirts repel water, meaning they stay drier for longer.
As a result, you're more comfortable, you perform better and you get more water time.
Nanosphere® technology is the best performing water repellent fabric technology we have ever tested - and we tested a lot.
Comfort
Sun Protection: UPF 35 Sun protection (wet or dry).
Our shirts reduce abrasion thanks to a combination of movement-enhancing flatlock needlework, excellent fit control and Bluesmiths' signature double-needle stitching.
